New ownership at Fairmont St Andrews

Fairmont St Andrews have announced that their holding company have been taken over by a company led by Great Century.

The partners of Great Century have put together a plan focusing on investments within the golf and hospitality sectors.

Fairmont, an Accor brand, will continue to run the hotel under their original long-term agreement.

Dr. CYM Chan, the co-chairman of Great Century, said:

“As a member of The Royal & Ancient Golf Club and a passionate golfer with over 30 years’ experience in the golf & hospitality industries, it is a privilege and an honour to participate closely in the future enhancement of this great property at St Andrews, Scotland, the Home of Golf.”

Co-chairman of Great Century, Dr. Peter Lam, said:

“I am extremely confident about the future potential that the Fairmont St Andrews holds. I am proud to be a partner in this long-term investment.”

The wonderful Fairmont St Andrews resort demonstrates pure beauty and incredible surroundings. The 211-bedroom hotel offers incredible views and two championship golf courses. In addition, there is a luxurious spa, five restaurants and bars as well as conference and event space.

Marc Dardenne, from Accor Europe, said:

Finally, Mr. John Keating, the General Manager of Fairmont St. Andrews, commented:

2020 is set to be a great year for the Fairmont St Andrews as it will host the Final Qualifier for The 2020 Open Championship at Royal St. George’s Golf Club.
