A new survey has revealed that in luxury hotels, larger items are being stolen just as regularly as those that are smaller.

It says that luxury hotels are reporting their mattresses as stolen far more often than people would think. The survey, completed by Wellness Heaven, showed that five star hotels are more likely to lose large items that smaller ones.

Notably, the survey questioned 634 four-star hotels and 523 five-star hotels located primarily in Europe.

The CEO of Tassilo Keilmann spoke to multiple hotel owners during the survey. In turn, he was surprised to learn about how guests steal large items like mattresses.

According to Keilmann, guests are most likely to steal mattresses through the night when nobody is at reception.

The survey said that the items guests will try to steal vary based on the standard of the hotel. Five star hotels are more likely to lose larger items. On the other hand, four star hotels are more likely to see smaller items be stolen.

Furthermore, Keilmann also said that he was surprised that people would even attempt to steal mattresses. In contrast though, luxury hotels are less likely to report crime as they don’t want to be associated with any wrongdoing.
